The Skin is a completely independent organ that functions to absorb, digest, breath, eliminate and feel. 

The Skin is made up of three layers: epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. The epidermis is the outer layer and the hypodermis is the deepest layer.

In humans, touch is the most developed sense. 

Touch is achieved through the sensory nerves of the skin, skin diseases of the epidermis often reflect conflicts related to touch, particularly to the  absence of touch as occurs in conflicts of separation.

There are three major categories of conflict of separation:

1. Real separation, experienced with difficulty.

2. Fear of separation, of being left alone.

3. Lack of communication.

We use the skin as a physical boundary.
