It has been a rough two years, I can pretend otherwise.
And this is not a post about another sad story!!
I’m Tired of Being Sad
Today I suddenly realized, I’m tired of being in sadness and misery. Bored of it!
I choose to step out of it whenever I want! It’s already happened!
This is what healing feels like! Physical, mental, emotional, energetic. Finally is is here.
Can We Know Joy Without Grief?
I always liked to live on the happy side of life.
So when the darkness comes it takes time to sit with why and what is here. What is this about? This dark night of the body-mind-soul…..
Being able to write about the tough stuff has been a huge act of courage and a healing for me.
So thank you for still being here.
Can we be truly happy unless we touch the other side? The things we don’t want to feel or live. Sadness, loss, grief are just the other sides of the coin of Joy, love etc?
What I know life is immense and full of unimaginable possibilities, and I came here, to this life to live it all.
Though the outside world is such a big part of it, ultimately we live from the inside out. Creating our own reality moment by moment. It’s a choice and ours to make.
The deeper we love the more we can (and often do) lose. To love deeply takes immense courage. Our greatest fears sit here…
For me it was the extreme of losing love to death, but there are many ways to lose deep love. Perhaps the hardest is when it splutters out or turns to hate? Or just deserts you? Or choses something more shiny to focus on…?
Learning to Live the Whole Spectrum
I don’t think anyone gets out of a human life without experiencing the spectrum of emotions. It is our Second and Forth Energy Bodies…. emotions are merely energy in motion.
As much as we want to trust what we can see, physical things. The subtle forces that shape our lives are as powerful and often harsh.
When we are young we are in Joy a lot of the time, we chase it, live it and want it. The older one gets the more capacity we have to live and survive the tougher aspects of life and rise from the ashes to find a higher Joy and be so grateful for it.
My Portal of Joy
I wonder if there places in our world where certain energies or emotions can be fully lived. Or if it’s an internal experience and some of us resonate more with certain places.
For me it’s the Greek Islands, in particular Lesvos. Where is spent some weeks in June working with my sister hosting two writing retreats.
As I step off the plane and ride across the island in the taxi I start to feel the incredible healing place it is for me. Simple, isolated and far from the outside world.
It’s an extraordinary sensory place for me. Where Azure Aegean waters meets the blue sky.
There is Joy in every aspect of that place. On the warm winds, the silent mornings with only the sheep and farm life breaking the silence. Little village life that has everything you need in a small strip along the sea.
Late nights filled with music and dance (tough for a morning person).
Yoga on the Pier overhanging the sea….
Amazing fresh food wherever you look. That goats milk frozen yogurt, fresh fruits.
I also made a new friend, who lives near me in Bali… Renske knows how to live fully. She was a magnet of Joy, her laugh, her style, the life she lives which is abundant, courageous and adventurous. She has the balance…. Love, a career based on her deep creativity, beautiful homes filled with fun.
She was a big step in bringing me back to life on that gorgeous island. The sunshine started to penetrate my being.
It’s as if the entire place is hardwired to bring Joy into my being.
The Day I Laughed Again
One morning I was doing yoga with my sister on the pier. There was a loud crack and squeal as she stepped onto her hair clip.
Laugher flowed out from somewhere and I could not stop.
Suddenly, there it was again. I laughed for the first time in almost years. I had wondered if I would or could ever laugh again and suddenly she just found me.
Beauty Brings Me Back to Life
For me beauty is a big aspect of Joy in my world. The beauty of nature, the elements, food, spaces and some mystical elusive element that makes you feel warm inside. Beauty can only be noticed when there is a peace in my being, a stillness that allows me to observe and take in the magical energy it brings.
Beauty heals, it brings me back to life.
Joy Isn’t Just the Peak Moments
I used to think Joy was something extraordinary—those unforgettable moments that stand above ordinary life.
But perhaps that was the trap.
Joy isn’t reserved for the peaks.
It quietly waits inside ordinary moments, if we’re present enough to notice them.
A bite of something delicious, my dog’s wet loving nose and smell of her, the palm tree outside my window that looks like it’s waving at me, the pink glow of sun rise, a deep breath into this healthy body.
We hold a Healing for Joy, and I feel the intensity of it coming or weeks.
These psycho-spiritual healings we hold are merely to bring the energy of this into our field and let it do its magic.
We are doing Compassion and Authenticity soon, which is exciting for me.
To truly hold the energy of compassion for myself and gift it to my body-mind.
This work continues to hold me in higher possibilities day by day.
Interesting how much shorter this blog is than my long dramatic ones on death and cancer.
Do we give more airtime to the tough stuff in life?
For sure our media does!
Do we feel it’s more important or valid to share our pain than our Joy and success?
I hope we can move to celebrate this beautiful life we have been gifted to live more and more.
Bringing Joy Home
For now I’m living in Bali. It’s a place of gentle beauty, kindness and healing. But not Joy for me… I had to find this in Greece and bring it back with me. It’s something I own and can apply it wherever I am in life now.
This Sunday we work with Balance, bringing back the balance find harmony and Peace inside and out.
Somewhere Between Pain and Joy
And I think this is where I am, in Balance again, somewhere teetering between Pain and Joy.
Learning to live again...
And excited for what is to come next.
